Setup guide
From fal.ai signup to your first Kineo video — four simple steps.
Kineo runs on a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model — you open an account directly with the compute provider, and every generation settles at wholesale rates with zero Kineo markup. New users get US$10 in free credit the moment they add a payment method — enough to test-drive 5-10 short videos.

In the fal.ai dashboard, find the Billing tab and add a credit card or ACH (USD settlement). You get US$10 in free credit instantly — no upfront top-up required.
💡 fal.ai is strict pay-as-you-go — your balance decrements per request and never auto-renews. Top up only when the credit runs out.
Go to fal.ai/dashboard/keys → click Create Key → give it a memorable name (e.g. `kineo-prod`) → choose scope API (the default and the safer choice; do NOT pick ADMIN).
⚠️ The key is shown only once — click Copy and save it immediately. Once you navigate away it's gone, and you'll have to create a new one.
Open My Keys in Kineo → click + Add new key → paste the key you just copied → Save. The system validates instantly; a green status means you're ready to open the Workspace.
Your key is encrypted the moment you paste it and kept in a dedicated secrets vault. It's used only on our servers to run your generations — never shown in your browser or saved to your device.
fal.ai is pay-per-use — every video, image, or voice clip you generate decrements your credit balance. Kineo's Workspace estimates the cost before each generation so you always know what you're spending. Paid credit lasts 365 days; free credit lasts 90 days. If your balance dips too low, fal.ai rejects new requests; top up to unlock instantly.
On Kineo's side: keys are encrypted with strong authenticated encryption and stored in a dedicated secrets vault, isolated so no other user can ever read yours. They're decrypted server-side only to send your request to fal.ai. On fal.ai's side: you can revoke any key anytime from fal.ai/dashboard/keys → Delete. Revoked keys fail closed in Kineo automatically; your other keys are unaffected. Best practice: create a dedicated key for Kineo (e.g. `kineo-prod`) instead of reusing one across apps. If a leak happens, revoke just that one — none of your other projects break.
Yes — fal.ai rejects API calls when your balance is zero. But adding a payment method gives you $10 free credit, plenty to validate the flow with a few short videos.
No. We charge a flat subscription (Pro $12 / Lifetime $149); compute is billed directly by fal.ai with zero Kineo markup. See the pricing page for details.
Go to fal.ai/dashboard/keys → find the leaked key → Delete to revoke. Then create a fresh key and paste the new one into Kineo. fal.ai doesn't ask for the old key back and doesn't charge a revocation fee.
fal.ai dashboard → Usage tab — a full breakdown per model and per request. Kineo's Workspace also shows an estimated cost per generation.
